Gymchat 164 - Online Training II

Training when you're not in the same physical location.

Quick reminder : in this week's Gymchat we'll be discussing the various ways to connect with your trainer (or client, depending on which side of the fence you sit) when you're not actually in the same physical location. Join us for Online Training II.

If you're a strength coach or personal trainer, do you offer any online services as part of your training? If you're an athlete, have you ever used any; or would you like to find out a little more about them?

We first looked at this topic a little over a year ago, following a discussion on Setting Up a Strength Training Facility. If you're a personal trainer or strength coach, this is an ideal opportunity to discuss the pros and cons of offering online services.

Everything from custom program design to teleseminars and video training.

And if you're curious about online training from the other side of the fence (as the client), this is a great chance to find out a little more. Helping us do just that is Renaissance Fitness' Derek Peruo. Fantastic.

And if you've just joined us on Google+, welcome. Join us on April 11th, and add a comment/ask a question or three. Dive in.

Scott Andrew Bird

Scott Andrew Bird is a writer, photographer and a guy who just loves this stuff. He's been at home in front of a computer for more years than he cares to remember (OK, 34) and is now making amends for years of many mistakes noted in the De-constructing Computer Guy articles (part 2) on T-Nation.

Find out what he's up to via Twitter, Google+, Facebook; and of course his online home. Enjoy.

Gymchats : What Time?.What Time? Photo by nicksarebi. For more than three years now we've been holding the Gymchats (previously called the Twitterchats) at the same time each week - 9pm Eastern (US). That's worked out well. Having said that, it's probably about time I asked again. If you could choose the ideal day and time to watch them - and to ask a question or three - what time would you pick? On a weekend? Early in the morning on a Thursday? Late on a Tuesday night?
Looking At : Sep 23, 2012.Echo Point, Blue Mountains. During the past week we've discussed a number of great links; on Google+, Twitter, the Forums and so on. Here are a few of my favourites.

Of course, if you enjoyed these, I'd highly recommend grabbing the Strength & Fitness Newsletter. Delivered weekly, and absolutely free.

(there's also a Daily Update, if you're looking for an even larger dose of training-related goodness.)

NB : If you'd like to write a guest post for Straight to the Bar - I love hearing how other people are training - get in touch. If you've got a fitness competition or seminar coming up, add it to the calendar.

Look forward to hearing from you.
