Ramen Noodles... If you ever wanted a weeks worth of food for $5, this is what you buy. Ramen by itself isn't enough to sustain you, but with a few easy additions, you can make healthy Ramen noodle recipes!

Make healthier Ramen

Frozen peas, carrots, or corn

You can buy a bag of these individually or mixed in the frozen food isle for about a dollar. When you heat up your Ramen noodles, throw in about a hand full of frozen veggies. Peas are high in soluble fiber which is good for your heart. Carrots are high in carotenoids which protect the eyes and your skin from the sun. Corn is a vegetable that offers complex carbohydrates and fiber, plus it tastes awesome!

Mushrooms

Mushrooms are classed as a vegetable even though they are technically a type of fungus. Mushrooms are good to add fresh to your Ramen noodles to make them healthy and add great flavor. Mushrooms are a source of selenium, which is an important mineral in the diet.

Protein

Healthy Ramen recipes don't just have to have vegetables and noodles, protein is important too! Dice up leftover meat or chicken and add to the pot with the Ramen noodles. You can also crack an egg into the boiling water and it will cook itself in the soup. You can also make Ramen healthy by adding canned salmon or tuna (I prefer to do this after I drain the water and sometimes add a little cheese to make a casserole).
