During the past week we’ve discussed a number of great links; on Google+, Twitter, the Forums and so on. Here are a few of my favourites.
- Chewing Gum is Good for the Brain : According to researchers from Japan’s National Institute of Radiological Sciences, chewing not only increases insulin levels it improves alertness and can reduce reaction times. Interesting finding.
- Video of a Thought Being Formed : Is this video of a thought which occurred naturally, or a response to stimulus? Either way, it’s pretty cool.
- 3 Reasons Patients Should Use Social Media : There’s been quite a bit of discussion surrounding the use of these technologies by medical practitioners, but very little looking at the patients’ side of things. Naheed Dosani and Jeremy Petch share a few thoughts.
- Recreating Natural Complex Gene Regulation : Bioengineers at Duke University have created a system to mimic the turning on/off of human genes; which will be a very powerful addition to current gene therapy research. Good stuff.
There were also a number of things discussed on the Straight to the Bar Community pages : Recommended Reading, an Interview with Aubrey de Grey and a whole lot more. Swing by.
