During the past week we’ve discussed a number of great links; on Google+, Twitter, Facebook and so on. Here are a few of my favourites.
- Powerlifting at 91 : Say hello to the incredible Sy Perlis, still lifting (and breaking world records) at 91. Fantastic.
- The Neuroscience of Sleep : The incredible Russell Foster talks about sleep (in great detail) at TEDGlobal 2013. Nice one.
- Synthetic Blood Trials : The Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine has finally been given approval to begin developing (and testing) synthetic blood made from adult stem cells.
- Mind Control of Prosthetic Limbs : DARPA is currently testing TMR, which combines the existing nerves near an amputated limb with a prosthetic device. The device can then be controlled by the brain in the same way as the original limb. Good stuff.
We also saw some incredible ideas in the world of nutrition (particularly surrounding vegetable fats), talked about the potential benefits of viruses when it comes to restoring vision and a whole lot more. Join the discussion in the Straight to the Bar Community on Google+.
