The first obvious reason is that the king also had an affinity toward pig, as it is believed, according to the National Geographic, that "some historical records say Poot was king of the kingdom in a time when pig was one of the basic staples in Thai food." This would bring both cultural and national unity at celebrations, particularly during the holy days of Loy Krathong. In most Central and Southeast Asia, this is the time when king and royal family gather celebrate the sacred holiday. The second reason for pig duck is the fact that, historically speaking, pigs have been a symbol of power and nobility since earliest times, from Egypt to Japan. This is where little pig duck-like clown person comes from. For another reason, the pig has become a traditional symbol of Halloween in Japan.
