Over the past four years this site’s amassed an enormous amount of content. To help you find the highlights, I’ll be taking a wander through the archives each Sunday.
This week – Hand Strength – Grip, Bending and Tearing.
My first foray into the world of hand strength came several years ago during a shoulder injury. Thanks to Jedd, Adam and Ryan (and many others) I soon became hooked on these glorious feats. Here’s a look at just some of the grip, bending and tearing demonstrations we’ve featured on Straight to the Bar over the years :
- Medley from Michigan Grip Championship
Jedd ‘Napalm’ Johnson‘s certainly no slouch when it comes to grip. Here’s a clip from the Michigan Grip Championship to give you an idea. Very nice work.
- Balloon-bustin’ Bare-handed Nail Driving
Ryan Pitts clearly has a passion for all forms of grip training (just test out the Stronger Grip tools and you’ll see what I mean). Here he is performing an incredible Strongman feat – barehanded nail driving. Love it.
- More in a Single Day
‘Unbreakable‘ Adam Glass has performed some truly incredible feats over the past couple of years. To give you a taste of his talents, here’s a look at just a single day of his training. Fantastic.
- When phonebook tearing looks ridiculously easy…
When it comes to phonebook tearing, one of my favourite exponents is the stuntman and grip afficionado Scott McElroy. As you’ll see, he makes it look almost ridiculously easy. Good stuff.
- Tearing A License Plate
Looking for a bit of a challenge? How about tearing a license plate. Professional Strongman Chris Rider explains how (demonstration below). Nice one.
