Video for Gymchat 251 – Gaining Maximum Functional Muscle Mass (Bud Jeffries)
Posted By Scott Bird

Thanks again to everyone who watched and joined in the discussion Gymchat 251 – Gaining Maximum Functional Muscle Mass [with Performing Strongman Bud Jeffries and Personal Trainer and Strength Athlete Josh Hewett] – much appreciated. If you haven’t seen it yet (or simply want to go over a particular point again), here’s the entire video.

It was a fantastic discussion. Josh and Bud discussed Bud’s fitness background, strength benefits of Bud’s ‘a bit of everything‘ approach, identifying the things which work in your own lifts, definition of ‘functional mass‘, strength carryover, reciprocal inhibition, focusing on one element of your training at the expense of others, various types of training complementing one another, managing physical stress, how much muscle mass to put on (for maximum strength gains), muscle that’s ‘hard as a piece of stone‘, workout structure, Zercher squats, rep ranges, warming up, volume, lactic acid ‘burning‘, ‘railroading‘, one-handed work, basic approach to nutrition, eating to gain mass, strength and age, outdoor training; and a whole lot more. If you’re ready to Pack on a Bit of Muscle (and Get Seriously Strong at the Same Time), make sure you watch this one.
