Over the past four years this site’s amassed an enormous amount of content. To help you find the highlights, I’ll be taking a wander through the archives each Sunday.
This week – Thick Rope Training.
There’s an incredible variety of thick rope exercises. Here are just a few of my favourites :
- Weighted Rope Climbing
Climbing. Weighted, of course.
- Double Rope Climb
One rope not enough of a challenge? Try the double rope climb. Much harder than he makes it look.
- Battling Ropes in action
Just a couple of the moves from John Brookfield‘s excellent Battling Ropes. Good fun.
- Seated Rope Sled Pull
There’s a great range of weighted pull options. Sit down and pull in a sled (as shown below), face the other way (rope over shoulder), stand, tug o’ war and so on. Great fun.
- Simple rope exercises with kettlebells
Anthony demonstrates a number of great exercises with the Outlaw Ropes. Perfect.
Naturally, there are several other exercises that are perfectly suited to thick rope. Suspend the rope from any two stable points in your yard/gym, and climb/drag/walk your way from one to the other. Good fun.
